Documents on file with Reprieve show that Rockwell Collins’s subsidiary, Air Routing International, provided logistical support for renditions missions between 2002 and 2003. For example, Air Routing International performed multiple trip planning services for the rendition of German citizen Khaled el-Masri from a secret prison in Afghanistan to Albania between 25 and 29 May 2004. Air Routing International also performed trip planning services for the rendition of Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri from Dubai to Afghanistan between 8 and 11 November 2002 on Gulfstream jet N85VM, operated by Richmor Aviation.
Reprieve wrote to Rockwell Collins in April 2012, asking them to sign the Zero Tolerance for Torture pledge. In reply, Rockwell Collins’s Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Gary R. Chadick, wrote:
“Let me assure you that Rockwell Collins is committed to conducting our business with the highest standards of ethics and integrity. As you have pointed out, it is important to communicate our commitment to social responsibility publically and prominently. Accordingly, we publish our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) (which includes our CSR Report) through our webpage.
We continuously review and evaluate our ethics and CSR content every year. Our commitment to global human rights is certainly part of this commitment and we will continue to enhance our website to prominently articulate and communicate that message.
In response to your letter, we have also taken steps, working with our new business leadership at Rockwell Collins Flight Services (formerly Air Routing), to further strengthen communication of our commitment to ethical business practices in the markets in which we do business. Finally, we will continue to reinforce our commitment to human rights through our business agreements and communications with our customers and suppliers.
We appreciate your communication on these important subjects. Thank you for your interest in Rockwell Collins and the mutual desire for the protection of global human rights.”
