Shaker Aamer reportedly en route home
October 30, 2015
Responding to the British Foreign Secretary’s confirmation that the last British resident to be detained in Guantanamo Bay, Shaker Aamer, is en route to the UK –
Cori Crider, Shaker’s US attorney and Strategic Director at Reprieve, said: “We are, of course, delighted that Shaker is on his way back to his home and his family here in the UK. It is long, long past time. Shaker now needs to see a doctor, and then get to spend time alone with his family as soon as possible.”

2. It is Reprieve’s understanding that Shaker wants to spend time with his family and receive medical attention before he speaks to any media. The first point of contact for any media enquiries is Sheila Burton (on 0207911 0166 or E.Petrohilos@birnbergpeirce.co.uk), who will pass on the enquiry to George Pitcher, who is kindly assisting Shaker and Birnbergs in this regard.
