Secret Courts must be defeated altogether
November 21, 2012
Commenting on the Government’s defeat on some votes concerning the Secret Courts Bill in the House of Lords tonight, Reprieve’s Executive Director, Clare Algar said:
“This may appear to be a small step in the right direction, but the reality is that we still face the roll-out of secret courts across our civil justice system.
“Ultimately, the only way to safeguard our centuries-old tradition of open and equal justice is to kick out these dangerous plans for secret courts altogether.
“Otherwise, we will end up living in a country where politicians are able to put themselves above the law, and the Government cannot be held accountable through the courts.”
