Nick Beales

Nick started at Reprieve in June 2019 as Lead of our Secret Prisons Project. 

Prior to joining Reprieve, Nick managed the Separated Families’ Project at Bail for Immigration Detainees, working to secure the release of migrants facing deportation from the UK and detained by the Home Office. He has also previously worked for the British Institute of Human Rights, the Refugee and Migrant Forum of Essex and London and as an investigator for the Charity Commission.

He holds an MA in Human Rights and Cultural Diversity from the University of Essex, and his dissertation focused on states’ extraterritorial human rights obligations to provide development and aid assistance. Nick completed his undergraduate degree in Law (LLB) at the University of the West of England.
