UK government opposes child executions, Cameron tells Lords

InThePress_TheGuardian

UK cultural institutions including the Southbank Centre have been accused of art washing Saudi Arabia as they attend a two day conference in the capital Riyadh, despite mounting human rights abuses.

The Great Futures event came not long after Foreign Secretary David Cameron told the House of Lords that the UK government was opposed to child executions in Saudi, reports The Guardian.

It was the first such commitment from a UK Cabinet Secretary since the last time David Cameron himself publicly intervened to prevent the execution of Ali Al-Nimr in 2015 when he was Prime Minister.

Three Reprieve clients Abdullah Al-Derazi, Abdullah Al-Huwaiti and Youssef Al-Manasif face possible death sentences for alleged offences committed when they were children.
