Over 70 MPs press Rishi Sunak to intervene in Jagtar Singh Johal's case

The BBC reports that more than 70 cross-party MPs have signed a letter calling on the UK Prime Minister to intervene in Jagtar Singh Johal’s case during the G20 summit in New Delhi where he will meet his counterpart Narendra Modi.

Reprieve client Jagtar Singh Johal is from Scotland and travelled to India in October 2017 to get married, but instead was arbitrarily detained on false charges. Reprieve told the BBC that after being hooded and bundled into a car whilst out shopping with his wife, Jagtar Singh Johal was “severely tortured” and forced to sign blank papers.
