The Guardian reports on criticism of US President Joe Biden’s visit to Saudi Arabia, on the basis that it will legitimise the ruling family’s approach to human rights and endanger those speaking out agains the regime.

Jeed Basyouni, who campaigns to end the death penalty for Reprieve said: “The visit has been confirmed the day after Saudi courts once again relied on the torture-induced ‘confession’ of a 14-year-old boy. This signals to MBS that he can commit such horrific human abuses with impunity.”
