Martina Burtscher

Martina joined Reprieve in November 2016 and is a Fellow working on Reprieve’s “Life after Guantanamo” project.

She holds a BA in Arabic Studies and a DU in Persian Studies from the University Aix-Marseille II. She graduated from Vienna University with a MA in Political Sciences and an MA in International Development.

Martina spent most of the past decade in the Middle East, either as a student, researcher, free-lance journalist or ICRC delegate.

Before coming to Reprieve, Martina managed the largest refugee shelter in Vienna during the 2015/16 refugee crisis.

She is fluent in Arabic, English, German, Spanish, French and speaks some Farsi and Turkish
