Laura Bloom

Laura joined Reprieve in 2018 as a Fellow on the Secret Prisons Team where she advocates on behalf of Reprieve clients still in Guantanamo and provides support for the Life after Guantanamo Project.

Laura holds a Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law where she specialized in international and comparative law. Before coming to Reprieve, Laura interned with the Special Procedures Branch of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights. She also served as a legal intern for an NGO in Benin, providing legal aid to displaced Nigerian individuals. In law school, she was research assistant to an International Human Rights Law Professor and participated in the UCLA International human rights clinic. Laura was also President of the UCLA International Justice Project which completed human rights projects for several organizations, including the American Red Cross and International Bridges to Justice.
