Chris Chang
Chris studied French and European studies at UWE Bristol and received the European Institute of Education and Social Policy Best Interpreter Prize in 2000. He wrote his dissertation on the problems facing young people of immigrant origin in France. Much of his subsequent work focused on juvenile justice. After graduating, he mentored vulnerable children at Chance UK and worked as a tutor at Bang Edutainment - he ran music workshops for young people in some of the most disadvantaged areas in London. Later, he worked with young people permanently excluded from Secondary School, cooperating with a variety of private and government agencies to reintegrate them into secondary education, assist them with further education placements and access to employment, and help with legal, social and personal matters. Chris is also a rapper with the highly politically charged, live Hip Hop band FULLeBLUNT and worked as the rap consultant on the hard-hitting theatre production Locked In, written by Fin Kennedy, winner of the 2006 Arts Council's John Whiting award.
Chris joined Reprieve as a volunteer in autumn of 2005 and now works as an investigator, primarily on the Guantánamo team. He gathers the facts, in the UK and around the world, that make the legal defence of Reprieve’s clients possible.
