Clara Gutteridge

Clara studied philosophy as an undergraduate at Sussex and before converting to law, took a masters degree in philosophy, writing her dissertation on the issues of asylum and refugees in political philosophy. Clara volunteered for a summer at the Centre for Capital Punishment Studies at Westminster, and while doing her CPE she worked on a programme giving advice on Special Educational Needs and the law. Before joining the Reprieve staff, Clara was a volunteer for seven months, helping with work on the Guantánamo Bay cases, including Sami Al Haj, and the British residents. In 2006 she worked on a series of hearings in the UK and European Parliaments on the topic of UK involvement in extraordinary rendition. Clara is now one of two investigators working on a wide-ranging project to uncover the scope of the global rendition and secret detention system, with a particular focus on European state collusion. |
